So we announced on the PlayStation Blog yesterday some super special new things about Joe Danger and Joe Danger 2: The Movie on PS Vita!
Perhaps most exciting thing for us is that we’ve got some super special guest stars in Joe Danger 2. From Tearaway we’ve got Atoi and Iota! And from LittleBigPlanet we’ve got Sackboy. Sackboy! Our friends at Media Molecule have been incredible. Thanks so much! They look amazing buzzing through Joe’s colourful world.
And perhaps the most proud thing is that it’s running super well, and looking super pretty. 60 frames a second is really important to us, because we’re tech gonks but also because it makes games feel better and more responsive. Really really!
Joe Danger on Vita also looks just as good as its big-console brothers. They’re pushing around 400 polys a frame, which is just incredible to see from a little handheld. Vita is lovely. Thanks so much to our friends at Four Door Lemon for making it happen!
So Joe Danger and Joe Danger 2 will be available separately because they’re both HUGE games – bigger than the original PS3 releases.
Joe Danger features 84 levels, including the Director’s Cut and Laboratory stages, and 25 characters to play with, and Joe Danger 2 features 85 levels, including 15 from the Undead Movie Pack we originally released as DLC for the PS3 version, and a whopping 35 playable characters.
Joe Danger also includes loads of improvements we made in Joe Danger 2, like ghost downloads, plus both games have online leaderboards. We wanted these games to be the best versions you can get 🙂
Finally, we’ve spent a lot of time refining the controls for Vita. We’ve added touchscreen controls for the menus and the editor modes, so that works really smoothly. And we’ve switched a few buttons around to account for Vita’s fewer buttons than a DualShock, but it all feels completely natural and simple.
It’s so good to see our first games playing so well in our hands. It brings all the excitement back! 🙂
That’s it for now – we’ll be following up with release dates real soon!
