*Sticky* Joe Danger Platform

Postby Sean » Thu Jun 24, 2010 10:56 pm

Hello Everyone,
This is a question we get asked a lot “Have you thought of making Joe Danger for 360/PSP/DS/Wii/iPhone/Mac/Linux/Neo-Geo Pocket Colour?”.

It’s a nice question to be asked, it makes us feel wanted. The truth is, we’d like to do Joe Danger for every platform that exists if we had the enough time and money. When you are a small indie developer, there are lots of complicated reasons why that’s hard to do.

If you have a particularly strong passion for a platform, or for a version that we might not have thought of yet, then please let us know.

Otherwise, if you have a PS3, I’d recommend buying Joe Danger right now, and enjoying it on that. It’s really good :)

If you don’t, keep your fingers crossed for other versions, and we’ll try to help as soon as we can.

Thanks,
Sean

PC

I'd love to see this game on PC, also it wouldn't be very hard to port but for the money really...I think that keeping the gamepad controls for the most time would be fine too!

A lot of people would love to see this on the 360. Everywhere this game is talked about, people ask "Is this game gonna be released for the 360?". Myself included.

As for a PC version there doesn't seem to be much interest but I'm sure a lot of people would enjoy that too (Myself I'd prefer a PC version over a 360 version but I'd end up bying it no matter which of those it showed up on)

Also, don't you already have a working build of this game for the 360 or PS3? I saw a movie where someone was playing around with the editor, and he was using A, B, X and Y buttons in the same colors as the 360 controller, so that should mean that it was for the 360 and/or PC.

I've been watching for this game ever since I saw it on the IGF website. Now I've just found out it's finally here and was excited and ready to fork out some hard earned dollars on it (I don't buy many games) - but was devistated to see it's no longer listed as being for PC.
I've read other posts saying you were developing a PC version from day one (for cheaper dual classification costs if I remember rightly) so surely the PC version isn't too far from done? So please, please, release a PC version.

The only problem with porting it to the PC is that it'd be much more susceptible to piracy, potentially costing a new independent game developer thousands of dollars in sales. Well, that's my opinion anyway.

"I made a Linux and Mac build in my spare time just for the hell of it, I have no idea if anyone wants it!"
There could be more than twenty-nine million http://counter.li.org/estimates.php Linux people who might want it.

Check out some real world sales figures here http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Humble_Indie_Bundle
Mac and Linux made up nearly half the customers but amounted to about three-quarters of the cash. Mac users are willing to pay more and Linux users are willing to pay a lot more.

And something else, have you seen the numbers comparing the PC and Mac piracy rate to the Linux piracy rate? Thought so, no one has, Linux piracy is too small to bother.

You want to sell your game in places that don't speak British English so you can sell more? That takes paid translators right? Not necessarily. World of Goo is available in Dutch, French, German, Italian, and Spanish (AKA: €UROP€) due to volunteers http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/World_of_goo. It pays to be friendly to the Linux community.

Regardless, I don't use Windows, especially if it is called WINE. I want a Linux version and am willing to pay more than the Mac people.

Pretty much every console game I buy is pirate or I downloaded it myself (considering I have a 360 and a PSP), however every PC game I get is original bought off steam or retail, so piracy numbers don't count for it also it's easier to detect pirate gamers on PC rather than consoles since you WILL NEED to modify the console to play pirate games.
Also I bought the Humble Indie Bundle 2 FOR PC paying quite a good price.
